What happened:

The exam last Sunday was tough. I would go as far to say it was tougher than the mock exam, and since I only got 61% on that I have probably failed.

There’s a slight chance I could pass. I found ethics very easy. If I do pass, it’s because I got very lucky with my guesses and aced ethics.

I found that two questions in each section were gimmies, while most of the others were tougher. For the FSA sections, I could usually knock off one of the answers but choosing between the other two was just a guessing game.

I think FSA will be my downfall. It’s one of the most important sections, and it was definitely my weakest.

I wont be disheartened too much. If I don’t pass, I will have plenty of time to study for it next year. I will understand all the concepts a lot better and ace it.

How did you find it? We have a long wait until we find out the results, so relax and enjoy the break from studying. We definitely deserve it.

354 days until the June 2010 exams.

I feel the same way. I have been reading AnalystForum and it seems that LOTS of people are very unsure about passing this year's Level 2. The test was unrepresentative of the overall CFA curriculum and asked poorly worded questions on obscure topics.
BTW, there are lots of retakers in this Level 2 in the Analyst Forum. I get the sense that the only people who really pass this thing are ones that are re-taking or put in 500 hours of study time so that they had true mastery of the obscure topics.

In a nutshell, the test was unfair because you are misled about what you should be studying. Rather than putting extra time into obscure topics, you are encouraged to spend extra time going over the main topics because you are told they will be heavily weighted. Then, on the exam, those main topics are given very little weight and the obscure topics are 90% of the test!

Like you said, we'll know better next year and will ace it.

I thought the exam was significantly more difficult than the mock exam. Both halves seemed more difficult than the expectation I had for an an average difficulty exam.

i think the morning session was average for me and the afternoon session was easiest. you could run through the afternoon session even if you were half asleep. thats how easy it was. everyone in excel centre in london were so excited after the afternoon session compared to the morning.

I failed the exam the first time and the second time around I passed! Check out www.core-models.com if you are having a hard time understanding the concepts for the level 1 exam. It helped me out. Good luck to you all!
