I ended up failing. I didn’t expect to pass it after doing the mock exams and the real thing, but it was still disappointing to see it in writing:
Level 2: Fail

We have divided the full group of failed candidates into ten approximately equal score bands. Your score band below shows how your overall score on the exam compares with all other failed candidates.
For example, if your reported score band is 1, you scored in approximately the bottom 10% of failed candidates. If your reported score band is 2, your score was within the next band width ranging from approximately the bottom 11% to 20% of failed candidates. If your score band is reported as 10, you scored in the top 10% of all failed candidates.
Performance band of your overall score among all candidates who failed the exam: 6
The most surprising point of the exam was that I got >70% for FSA, and <50% for Ethics. I thought the ethics was easy and spent a lot of time on FSA during the exam.
This has been a good experience and has set me up well for next years exam. I plan to start studying again in September and take my time. I should be able to write more entries into this blog this time around :)
To everyone who passed their level II and III exams, congratulations! Your hours of hard work has paid off. Good luck for your level III exams, or congratulations on obtaining the charter! I wish you all the best.
289 days until the June 2010 exams.

I am on the same boat with you. So have you registered to retake it again next year?
Hi, man! don't give up! wish u all the best in next year June 2010 exam!
Study hard for Level 2.
I passed Level 2 this june and believe me i did the Kaplan pass papers twice and for me that was enough. Doing Mock exams is the key to pass the exams and getting pass on ethics is another key to pass the exams.
I just read thru your whole cfa blog. You really were up against a tough challenge trying to cram in all that material in just 4 months. Sounds like you gave it a great effort. At least for the next time you are well ahead of folks like me who haven't even peaked at the curriculum yet. I passed L1 in June and just signed up for L2 today. My boss says I should start studying late Dec/ early Jan, but I plan to start much earlier. Good Luck!
Indy: No I'm not registered yet, I'll do it just before the deadline closes. I'll study from my 09 books until then and check for changes in the curriculum.
Yeah, learning all the material well in 4 months is a hard thing to do, especially if you're working. I gave myself about 6-7 months for level 1 and I think that's probably ideal for level 2 as well.
I would also be taking the level 2 next year - hope your blog would be a nice motivating factor and a guide.
Good luck mate!
I started studying for CFA 2 in Mid of March and than i went on holidays for 2 weeks of April. I was still able to pass my exam.. well just be focused.
haha!! bad luck on not reaching your goal!!! i've been meaning to check how you went for a while....i followed your blog entries for your level 1, which i passed june 09...but your blog gave me a clear mind in the final days when i was was failing practice exams big time only 2 weeks out.
keep posting, will def. check in with your progress.
L2 ain't gonna be fun :(

you had the right idea man, keep at it.
i did the same - level 1 in december, level 2 in june. devoted 90% of the review time to FSA, Equity, Corp, and FI - come exam day, lucked out and aced derivatives while bombing ethics and ended up with a pass. luck of the draw. there's just so much material, and no way to know what's going to be tested.
when will u start studying for L2 ?
Good luck next time. Dont give up
